A collection agency in Pennsylvania created an elaborate court system to trick people into paying debts. The agency, called Unicredit, had employees who dressed up like sheriff’s deputies and served fake papers.
Unicredit also sent fake court notices for hearings and depositions at their fake courtroom! At this courtroom, a Unicredit employee posed as a judge and pressured consumers to give the company access to their bank accounts and to surrender car titles.
Thankfully, Unicredit has been shut down by the Pennsylvania Attorney’s General, but the lesson is clear: Know your rights! And if you are unsure about what to do, call Miller and Miller for a free consultation today.
